OPEN INVITE: Sunday 22nd of June for a bimble around the Chilterns.

Perhaps see you at Sid’ (if not before then). Are you are going again this year? So many new faces last year, I barely got a chance to speak with any of you guys.
Yes, I will be going again this year - taking my daughter again too. This year my brother will be coming too on my old bmw k1300r, so will see you there!

Two weeks to go, anymore interested bods keen to join in?
I have a friend that would like to join us on this bimble. He has read through the links etc and is happy to meet us there at the start, 9am. He is on a 1200R and called Klaus. Hope that's okay

So that’s 5 of us. Which makes up for a good sized group.

Anybody else willing to join, then just reply bellow, otherwise I will see you all on Sunday morning.

I might ask a friend to join (if you guys have nothing against it).
He's on here as well.

Please be aware.
The weather for Sunday is forecast to be hot, be sure to have plenty of water, hats, sunglasses, SPF etc with you.
But most of all, please wear your breeziest biking gear on hand, you will not need to wear anything remotely with Goretex in it. Mesh kit would be ideal, it isn’t much fun to be sweating your knackers off in 30°+ degree heat.

I know everyone is a grown up in this group, however those of you (@adventuredon & @er-minio) who are bringing your friends along, please relay this information to them.

There will be plenty of places to stop at. Those with intercoms who’re are willing to link up on the day, might find it useful should they need to chime in to let me know that they need to pull over for a toilet break or to take a layer off. I will bring my tool kit with me, so in an emergency we should be able at least to fix a puncture at a roadside, probably much quicker than you’d get the AA call centre chimp to get you a rescue man allocated.

There is a plan to stop for tea/coffee a couple of times, a planned lunch stop at the pub and perhaps even some ice cream both a view. Speaking of views, there will be plenty, some are worth stopping at just to have a good look at, to absorb the beauty of it all, perhaps even a photo snap, should you wish to.

As mentioned in the opening post, this isn't going to be a race, more of a leisurely Sunday bimble through some lanes and lesser traveled roads by other members of the public.

We may need to employ a drop off system, but I doubt there will ever be the need for it.
We can speak about this in the day, prior to departure. After all the group is quite small, but at some busier junctions, we might get separated for a short while.

I already dragged out of the closet my old shitty Spidi mesh jacket that also has a couple additional ventilation holes due to an accident many years ago (20 😳) for my ride to work today.

:D

EV do you have a "rough" gpx track?
No problem at all if not. It was just a curiosity to see the route.

Dear attendees.

Please find bellow a link to a GPX file for Sunday's ride out as promised.
Those of you Downloading it for use with your Garmin XT download it as (.gpx 1.2 route, track, POI) / BMW Nav V & VI and TomTom (.gpx 1.0 or 1.1 route, track, POI)

The route is just whisker over a 104 miles long, and including time allowance for various planned stops, should take around 7 hours to complete.
As mentioned before, this will not be a race, nor will it be a time trials type of ride. We will not be racing completely blinkered to the next point of interest/tea room. The idea is to have a nice and chilled out ride, have some time to observe and absorb your countryside surroundings, to meet some of there new faces, enjoy each others company & chat a load of blocks (as you do) over a coffee/tea, but most of all, be safe and be back home in one piece for our loved ones.

Please note:
You will notice some waypoints with ⚠️ warning triangles ⚠️ next to them. These are there to warn you about the road conditions, difficult junctions, etc. You will hear instructions via the intercom, if you chose to hear these on you navigation device*.

I have planned us a few scenic stops, to stretch the legs, use a toilet, have a coffee and a cake as well as a nice place for a lunch spot (at around 13:00), followed by an ice cream stop an hour or so later should you choose to have it.

Departure will be as planned at 09:00, however if we all gather before the deadline time, then there is no reason to leave a bit earlier.
I plan to be at the rendezvous point by 08:45.
We will be returning back at Watford (starting point) at around 16:00 +/-15 minutes.
The of you living South of the river and in Essex, high wants peel off at a 3rd to last (97) waypoint and get yourself onto the M25.
The likes of @er-minio, might want head for the final waypoint, then join M1 south at J5 or carry on into Edgware area along the A41.

Anybody who is still sitting on the fence and or planing to join us and are traveling from the north of the country. You may wish to leave us aper lunch or after the ice cream stop at Dunstable Downs and Jon M1 North from there.
Nobody is being held against their will, you may wish to come and ride with us for just an hour or two and then go do your own thing. You may wish to join us for the rest of the day, elsewhere along the way rather than at the start point. All I ask of you, is to please let me know, if you are coming, so that I now how many of you to expect, and where would you be joining or leaving us. Thise on the list of attendees already, I understand that we all going to meet up at the waypoint one (here).
*the warnings will only show up and be audible, if you use MyRoute App on your phone or via the AndroidAuto Apple CarPlay compatible device.
Be sure to bring a bottle of drinking water, your sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. It'll be a hot day. Mesh kit is highly advisable to be worn too.

I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday morning.

Thanks a lot EV.
Yep, I might have to "detach" before the end of the ride (have to get back probably a bit earlier at some point) but easy.

See you in the morning on the day ;)
