Opinions? Hein Gericke Oxan II Sheltex Suit

Has anyone used this kit? I'm interested, but wonder just how waterproof it is.... I suppose the leather is meant to absorb water which is then stopped at the sheltex lining? Will I end up smelling like a wet spaniel though

Hi,

I have just bought a pair of these trousers, well a couple of weeks ago, they seem preety good, infact no complaints.

I have worn a pair of BMW Atlantis trousers for the past few years, but after losing weight they no longer fitted. I did look at new BMW ones but they were just far too expensive, and the Hein Gericke `kecks are approximately half price, but i`m quite pleased so far.

Not tried this but HG stuff generally does what it says on the tin.

Personally, I wouldn`t wear leather in the rain but I`m sure you wouldn`t smell like a spaniel. Have a mooch down to your local farm in the rain and have a noseful of a damp cow.....that would be more the mark

Thanks - How will the farmer take to me chasing his cattle around the field shouting 'I just want to smell one' I wonder

Yes, I'm fairly confident in the HG stuff, just the thought of wearing leather as a waterproof layer that seems odd. I really want it for short journeys and commuyes where I get caught in a shower. I'd take waterproofs as well on a longer trip.
