Opinions please....

The euro BMW bars are lower and narrower. The items on this bike might be the US style handlebars....or they maybe
aftermarket. Personally, I don't the standard original 'bars so I wouldn't be too concerned if they were changed. I have
done it to both of mine.
The dash and clocks look okay to me although that silver ring around the clock face does not look standard.
The saddle looks incorrect - it's from an earlier /5. The /6 saddle should have "perpendicular" stitching. Although some
internet pics show a similar saddle to this eBay bike so maybe the very early /6's had them.......??
It's a nice looking bike !

I have a 60/6.The bike looks fine to me. It's a very early one with parts carried over from the /5. It has the alloy indicators and the rubber covered switchgear which were changed later. I would think think the saddle is also a correct /5 carry over. As mentioned the Euro bikes have lower bars. It's getting close to its money now but will probably look a cheap buy in a couple of years if it doesn't get much dearer.:beerjug:

Yeah, I was wondering that....if some of the really early /6 had /5 parts. Did the R60/6 have the 4 speed 'box like the R60/5 or
was it 5 speed ?

60/6 has a 5 speed box. I notice the bike has a kickstart fitted but you could have 5 speed boxes with kickstart fitted. I have not come across a 60/6 with a four speed box but, of course, I have not seen everything. You could contact the sender and ask if the bike is 5 speed.

Oh I'm not after another bike !! I was just curious about the /6. I have a 1973 R60/5 myself with the 4 speed box hence me asking.
The R75/5 has a 5 speed gearbox alright but the 500cc and 600cc variants made do with the 4 speed item.

I know next to nothing about airheads but I think that's a lovely looking 'puttering around' classic......I can't see it losing value in the long term, but just please don't destroy it by making it into some 'special' :blast

Trust me Sir....Not in one billion zillion light years would I feck up a classic BMW with my (or anyone else's) version of 'imrovements'....;)

Johnny, that R60 you liked is very pricey now, it will soon be reaching this which is much nicer in my opinion.

I agree, much nicer thing...:thumb2

I'm gettine old.....I remember (seems like 10 minutes ago) when these things were being thrown into skips......

Danny Liska went on a couple of epic adventures on a R60/2 during the 1960's, this looks like the same sort of thing except for a few advances in engine design and telescopic as opposed to Earles forks. So touring would be spot on, looks like they would be good for RTW too if you wanted to give it a good beating.

I have to say that I have always had a hankering for an R60 for trundling about on Cornish A and B roads. An R69 would be better still, of course. As someone pointed out, that one looks far too nice to modify - not like my R80 ST which was gagging for it...

Rich C is selling his R90/6. get in touch with him if you want a classic airhead.
