Just p/x my 2016 GSA 1200 for a 2019 1250RT , question is can i attach the optimate via the accessory plug in the right side of the fairing, or should i connect to the battery direct via the optimate lead ?

I would attach it direct to the battery via the Optimate lead. It also gives you an outlet for an air compressor which might other trigger the ZFE "fuse" to trip.

That's the best way to do it and the way I have my RD outlets configured.

What I actually do is to purchase from BMW a connector plug for the rear power outlet. I leave the original wire disconnected then extend the new wires back to the battery. This is because all my accessories - battery charger, air pump, heated gear etc - all terminate in Hella plugs.

I have a socket in the left hand side panel (Triangle panel in front of the back wheel) wired direct to the battery. When I changed from the 1200 to the 1250 I just moved the panel between bikes
