Optimate 4 Charging DIN

How/via what circuit does the ZFE connect the charger which is plugged in to the accessory socket to the battery?
The OEM accessory socket is wired to the ZFE and not to the battery. The ZFE "listens" for the compatible charger initiation pulse train and opens the connection to the battery if it detects it.

Been charging mine for years in the din socket without issues.

I could actually plug it into the lead under the seat i have for the airpump which is the same connector.
But the din is just really easy.
Ditto, I too have been charging via the din socket for years, never an issue.

Optimate 1.

Plug in.

Forget.

Whatever battery.

Over a year on my 1098.

I use on all my bikes, any battery just plug in and forget.

No dramas at all.

I have 7 or 8 fitted and dotted about.

Never an issue with any.

I’ve no idea why people buy the mega expensive ones to be honest.

Over a year on the 1098, with a Lithium battery ? That's reassuring to know. Its well documented that a dedicated lithium battery charger must be used. There's several posts on here, stating the use of a standard Lead acid battery charger, All seemed well for a long period, But eventually damaged the lithium battery. Your comment on not understanding why people invest on a Lithium expensive charger is simple. The risk of damaging an expensive battery, Blowing the warranty because the wrong charger was used. Me personally, would rather take the advice of the manufacturer. Good luck. (y)

Sorry to be clear the optimate 1 is a lithium charger too.

Plug and play

Oh Ok. That makes sense. Years ago I used an optimate. But thought unless you had the latest offerings, they were not lithium friendly (y)

All I do is make sure that I load the battery before pulling the trigger.

Ignition on, wait about 20 seconds then hit starter.

Never ever had a drama.

Bikes range from 310 rally raid to exotica like MV and Ducati.

Fond memories of the Ghurkhas Demo Coy during SCBC & PSBC (y)

20 seconds pause, then fire it up. That said, I always wait for the engine light to go out after its done all its checks before starting, which must be at least 20 seconds.

I’m off to polish my Kukri :)

I tend to put key in and turn on, put on gloves , jump on and pull the trigger.

Timing works ok for me
