Being a total newbie to the 1200 systems, I belive the aux socket shuts down after a while, so am I correct in thinking that you attach the wire provided with the Mklll Optimate direct to the battery.
The Mklll does glass matt and gel so thats safe with the 1200 battery, not sure yet if it's a matt or gel fitted.

Cheers

You must make the connection direct to the battery with the Optimate, it's fine on the 1200 as long as you do. :thumb

If you want to connect via the auxilary socket it means paying a fiortune for the BM charger.

Hi Les,

I have an 55' reg 1200GS and have had the same Optimate fitted for 10 months. It works a treat and you can make the plug for the charger available on either side of the frame (depending which way round you park your bike)

As 'Thunder' recommended; you should wire the Optimate directly to the battery to avoid any complications.

Good luck,
