Optimate charging

Hi , I have an 02 1150gs and an Optimate charger. Now, how is the best way of connecting the charger? Is it ok to plug the charger into the power output socket thingy or do I lift the tank and permanently attatch the power lead that comes with the charger?

either, suit yourself, center pin is positive and you can get a plug from maplins, or iirc someone on this site sells them, jaythro i think.

1150 power socket should be unswitched and is fused, and doesn't involve messing about with the tank to get at the battery. The easy / safe option IMO.

I've been connecting an Optimate to my 03 1150GS using the power socket for the last six years and everything is fine (well, one of the goats died last week, but I think that was just coincidence).
