I started restoring an old Suzuki GS750 5 years ago - but never finished it?
At the time I fitted a new battery, which has been idle for 4 years now!
I plugged it into the optimate a couple of days ago, but nothing seems to be happening - just the green power light showing?
If the battery is knacked, shouldn't the optimate flash some lights?
Is it possibly to flat for the optimate to recognise the battery?
Should I buy/borrow a charger & give it a good tickle first?

I would read the optimate manual, but I got it from Hein Gericke & it's all in feckin German!:blast

Disconected but flat all that time - Doesn't 4 years fly by?

Was hoping to revive it a bit, as it has a kickstart & doesn't need much!
The battery on it when I bought it barely lit the neutral light - but the bike still ran!

Revuval????

You will not revive a dead battery, regardless of its age, with an Optimate; before you throw your battery out try charging it with a 'proper' charger or get someone to do it for you; IF you are lucky it may come back to life.

Will an Optimate not tell me if a flat battery is knackered?

I revived a dead battery which would not respond to a optimate with a 12volt transformer (dc) off a toy. JJH

An old trick my dad taught me with a knackered battery is.... Connect it inline with a fully charged bigger (car) battery, so that it's STILL 12v, not 24v. Then charge it that way. Sometimes it can rescue a battery, but not always.

Thanks Miff - Will try that now!

More chance of bringing Walt Disney back to life than that battery!

Got a nice new gel jobbie for £40 - will keep this one well optimated.

:roll
