This is not how I imagined my first post to this forum to be, excited as I was at the prospect of owning a new GS1200. However due to unforseen circumstances (which I cannot go into detail about) I am going to have to cancel my order.

I expect that I will I have to forfeit the deposit, but I did wonder whether anyone had similar experience and can offer advice. The other consideration would be for someone to take my order over, but I am not sure of the legalities of this.

The bike is yellow/grey/black with cross-spoke wheels, heated grips and ABS and is due to be delivered to the dealer from the holding depot around the second week in October. It was 'swapped out' from another dealer's allocation and was already in the depot when I placed the order.

Advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Jac,

Do you have a New Vehicle Order form from your dealer?

If so you should find on the rear all the fine print about your rights.

Tough luck on having to cancel.

If you speak to the dealer, particularly as it sounds like you have a good reason for cancellation, you may find that you're ok on the deposit.....there is a waiting list for the 12gs so it's not as if they won't be able to shift it ;)

Good luck and hope you are able to get one another time

Thanks Guys,

I do have a new vehicle order, but can't see anything particularly relating to cancellation or deposit.

I'll try the dealer tomorrow and see what they say.

You've probably spoken to them by now but if the dealer's Cannons, they're a reasonable bunch. Maybe you could agree that if they sell it easily within a fortnight for little extra overhead they give you a refund. If it hangs around (cos it's SLOW yellow) then they don't.

Good luck. :thumb

Good news!

Delay and procrastination have provided an 11th hour solution and my cancellation is cancelled. Now picking the bike up next week and can't wait.

Looking forward to joining the happy throng of GS'ers and benefiting from their wisdom and experience.

PS Are yellow really slow?

Good news JAC, and welcome to the world of empty wallets, too many gadgets, knobbly tyres, too much alcohol and stupid wide grins :D

PS yellow??

So slow they almost have a reverse gear :D

The Yellow/Black/Black/Spoked one that was on the Isle of man last week was the fastest on the island - I should know I was piloting it!!!

Certainly turned a few Sportsbike riders heads I can tell you

Great choice JAC - you'll be glad you got it :thumb

And the best thing is...........

.............another recruit from the Golden county!

Welcome JAC, and see you sometime I hope.

Come on down!

Yes! Desperately so.
Ask everyone else to explain why you got there first. :eek

CMK (Yellow one with alloys that did 50Km with a flat rear tyre and went on to do 2,000+ miles on the twice repaired tyre)
