Order date to delivery time....

Hi there, I ordered my BMW R1200GS 18 of August 2010, was wondering when I could realistically expect it to be ready for collection at the dealer.

Ordered mine (R1200GS) on Wed 18th August, bike arrived at the dealers Mon 30th, and I rode away on a 60 plate on Sat 3rd Sept.

It did help that the dealer (Motorrad Central, Edinburgh) had at least 3 GS's in the spec'n I wanted; choice of colours; all sitting in their crates ready for delivery from BMW in Bracknell.

Only hiccup in the whole process was Carole Nash taking 5 days to issue a insurance cover note to enable the bike to be taxed however (after a bit of chasing) even the insurance arrived in time by e-mail on the Saturday morning to let me ride away as planned.

There was another rider from Dumfries also collecting his new GS on the 3rd, however I think he may actually have ordered after me.

I might be best positioned to answer this question;

Ray, your bike is at status 9000, code for left the factory. All being well we should receive it by the middle of next week and then through the workshop for PDI and accessories fit in time for the weekend. Not too bad for a bespoke factory order, 4weeks is probably as quick as it can get.

How about confirmed order Friday morning (last week). Friday lunchtime dealer rang to say they just unboxed a bike that fitted my order (ok, it had a few extra bits on that they did me a deal on). Collected bike Tuesday afternoon.

Not bad for 5 days (including a weekend) from order to collection, although I accept that is hardly typical. Still it made me a happy bunny

Strange you didn't just ask your dealer in the first place??

I was told by every dealer I visited an estimated time of delivery and found that generally the bigger BMW Motorrad franchises tended to have quicker turnarounds from order to pick up
