Hi
I have submitted an order for a r1200gs and production will be in June with July delivery.
Do you think I am still in time to change to another bike? That is f800gs?

Thank you

Should be fine

Speak to supplying dealer

Normally if it hasn't been built or allocated a chassis number... They will let you swop

Thank you thebuyer.
I saw the order spec sheet and there is a production number but not the chassis no.

I hate doing this but I am having my doubts.

Why are you having doubts?:nenau

No idea whether you can/can't, but Ive had both and very happy with my 2016 GSA

It's purely down to the dealer - you have entered a contract with the dealer but most would be able to sell your bike that you have already ordered so long as it wasn't something out of the ordinary. GS and GSA are not out of the ordinary so you should be OK - providing you buy another model from the same dealer and of similar value.

It would be an extremely short sighted dealer to refuse the swap.....

I love my r1200gs for what I want, excellent economy plenty fast enough and a choice of soft or hard ride at the flick of a switch and cruise :) Maybe you should have another test ride then choose which you prefer im sure the dealer will sort

I could understand you wanting to cancel the order if it were the other way round.... But why would you dream of going from 1200 to 800??? Worlds apart bike wise.....

Just tell your dealer that you have changed your mind

Better to reconsider before you've got the bike rather than after when you've lost £'000's on depreciation or locked yourself into a contract.

Talk to the dealer ASAP.

If you can afford it buy the 1200.

Miles better bike IMHO.

And I've owned both. :aidan

Dealer will want to shoot me.
Did anybody change the order a month before?
Is it fine from the factory?

Thank you

You asked the question Sunday, its now near as dammit Wednesday, are you saying you havent actually spoken to the dealer yet ? :blast

Hopefully you'll lose your deposit for being so indecisive and wasting everyone's time.;)

If its important to you, make the time to sort it ASAP. Go to the dealer, if you cant go there ring them. Your a customer who is spending their hard earned money, and whatever the answer is, delaying will only make it more difficult.

Tell them you have made a mistake, the worse that can happen is they can say tough its too late. The last thing that is going to help you is if you start quoting someone on here who says its no problem to change the order. Just be clear, honest and firm with the dealer to find out what your options are.

Like I have said you have entered a contract with the dealer - if you have decided to change bike the worst you could do is loose your deposit and the dealer tell you to f@ck off - this is unlikely if you have not previously messed them around and if you are going to order a bike from them again.

I have to say though if you are this undecided you should not have not done your job correctly as a buyer.
