Well after the test ride i've ordered a new 1200gs.... I was going to buy secondhand but looking at the prices... either some people are living in another world or they just don't loose any money!

Went for a red one, none ABS..... I didn't like the abs locking the back wheel when braking hard!! Roll on july!

Oh think i've just brought the average age of the GS rider down a few years!

Well thats what it felt like anyway.... took one out without ABS after and was much happier, alot more feel and confidence.

Glad to see you ordered the 'faster' colour :D

It had no way near the power, handling/roadholding is better well below 120ish, the sp1 is rock hard till you get a proper wiggle on then it all comes together, 200miles to a tank compared to 80 on the sp1. It doesn't rev as fast but is smoother lower down. More of a real "road bike". Through the bardney bends are in lincoln I was quicker/smoother/SAFER! 70% of the time. The seating postion is a revalation.

Obviously i've read all the reports etc but I was v happy with the way the gs handled.

I'm already getting greif off my mates as my next bike was going to be a ZX10r.

Only negative aspects were the wind noise and gear change but hopfully these can be sorted!?

I read were the average BMW bike own is 47 and has twenty plus years riding in. I would think that the average GS age would be less.

I think it would make a good pole.

I don't believe this. What are you talking about. The back wheel does not lock up. ABS will not let it lock up. Have you been shown how to ride a bike with ABS. Did you know you can turn it off when not required.

why should you be shown how to ride a bike with ABS? I know how to ride a bike, What would be the point of me buying one with ABS just to turn it off? I made a point of using the front brake only and under hard use I could feel the back wheel "chirping" as the ABS was doing its stuff, well thats what it felt like:D

Enjoy the new bike:)

Maybe I'm one of those 'not living in the real world' but anyone selling will try to minimise their loss on selling a bike which they may have had only a few months.

Having said that, this doesn't only apply to GSs.

Hope you enjoy the bike. I think that ABS is a useful tool to have for all year riding but the extra £795(?) may make the choice easier to make.

It can give a false sense of security.

Enjoy the bike!
