I crashed my 2006 GS on a shite botched road "mending" by tar & gravel on August 19:th, resulting in a very well used engine crash bar, a scratched left handlebar end, ditto topbox and a frame bent by my left passenger footpeg grabbing hold to the road while we did a 270 degrees lying down pirouette. And a large bruising on me left thigh.

Insurance company reacted swiftly and told me they would pay for the repair. A new frame and various other needed bits were ordered.
The frame hasn't arrived yet. Ze Germanz told me yesterday that

"Dear Pär-Olov, we had a change over in our central logistic program and due to this change there unfortunately was a backlog. However, our responsible colleagues would like to have a closer look into this issue. Please e-mail to [email protected] and provide them with a copy of your complaint and the chassis-no. of your bike. Thank you very much."

I did as asked. No answer yet. Oktoberfest?

I feel very strongly to now "mention ze War". :ronno

does your insurance cover you for a replacement bike? if it does your insurance company will soon chase them up as soon as the hire costs keep mounting weekly.on the other hand have you tried phoning them direct?having dealt with alot of companies from the fatherland i've found all of them to be pretty efficient including bmw far more than any uk dealership.:thumb

The love to hear from their former friends (ball bearings from SKF, iron ore from the north). Churchill wanted to bomb Gothenburg.

They will move you up the queue.

Kind of answer but not:

"Dear Mr. Joelson,

Thank you for your e-mail. We appreciate your efforts to direct your request to us.

We have forwarded your e-mail to the relevant subsidiary, BMW Sverige AB, for further assessment. You will be contacted as soon as possible.

Kind Regards,
BMW Motorrad Direct"

a.s.a.p, the anglified way of saying "Mañana"... :nenau

Sorry to hear about your prang.

I hope for your sake BMW Sverige AB are more efficient & helpful than BMW Motorrad UK who, in my experience, are crap.

Not sure that helps though.

In Samuel Shem's excellent book, The House of God, he describes something like BMW's reply as 'Buff and turf'.

Put any annoying problem (in his book it is medical patients) into a buff folder and turf it to another department, reasonably safe in the knowledge that the problem will not be coming back :D

PS Buff is a very plain brown colour. Turf, is English slang for throw.

After a long business career dealing with the germans, I found exactly the opposite. German efficiency is a complete con but a very effective one nevertheless. Certainly the Germans themselves believe it.

My dealer / garage called me just now. They still have no frame, nor any information. BMW Sweden doesn't have any information.

So, my contact told me "We got tired of this nonsense, so we've "unbent" the passenger's footpeg and subframe, and made some reinforcing welds, so now you can use the bike until BMW manage to pull it's fingers out of it's arse (Swedish, probably untranslatable but somehow suitable anyway, expression)

I'll pick her up tomorrow.

Yeay, Claessons Motor in Bromölla! :clap
