My fuel gauge hasnt worked properly since i got the bike (1995 R1100GS) so I finally got around to removing the assembly from the tank a few days ago. The nuts came off no problem to my relief as they looked pretty well rusted up, and when i got the bits out I was amazed to find what is very possibly the original fuel filter - its date stamped 1993 (but could potentially be 1998, its blurry) - how often are you supposed to change this? This thing is at least 19 years old!
I cleaned up the pot tracks and fixed the clearance issue which should sort the fuel reading, but didnt have a fuel filter. I have one now but before i reassembled I forgot to measure the clips ill need to replace the single use crimp type thats holding the old one on. Does anyone have to hand what size and type of clips i need? really so I dont have to take it apart again to measure then wait several days with the tank off for the clips to be delivered.
Also I stupidly forgot to mark which fuel line went to which side. I assume it makes a difference. Is there any way to find out without having another bike the same to look at to check?
cheers
Gordon
