Go on then...... what's it like?
Much to do / see?
Camping a good idea if there's a campsite?

The Italian Chapel
St Magnus Cathedral
Skara Brae
Stones of Stennes
Ring of Brodgar
Scapa Flow
Churchill's Barriers
Higland Park Distillery - book a toury
Scapa Distillery (didn't go)
There's a brewery somewhere too.
etc. etc. etc.
Don't take the expensive ferry To Stromness, Take the Cat from Gills Bay (just west of John O'Groats) to St Margarets Hope. Much cheaper and more scenic - especially if your into Puffins, Guillemots, Razorbills and the Skerries.
If the weather is good+ Maeshowe and then get the overnight boat to Shetland.![]()

Good for diving!
…..and there is some excellent whisky![]()

If you are into archaeology, it's Disneyland with pubs. If not ... Saying that, I don't think anyone with an iota of imagination could enter Maes Howe (older than the pyramids) and not feel the hair on the back of their head rise.
