as you have a rack look at the QL2.

you have to consider that ortlieb is all over europe so if you need to return it for some reason then you can do so quite easily.

look in the equipment section of advrider, someone has asked this exact question

I want some soft-luggage mounted on SW-motech rachs om my 800GS. The choice is between the Ortlieb Motorcycle saddle-bags or Wolfman Exp Dry panniers:

I have great success with "Andy Strapz" soft-luggage using SW-motech racks on my F650 twin. I can highly recommend the combination.

If I was going with soft luggage I would defo go with Wolfman. I have a few of their other bags (rainier tank, wolf tail, tank panniers, fender bags) and they're all great!

I have a 'new' set of Wolfmans in black if you're interested? :nenau

I bought them from this forum 'unused' and they are still 'unused'. I have gone for hard panniers and so are now surplus.

I'd be interested to see photos of the others makers bags on the F800 all the same. It's all about the 'look' ......[/QUOTE]

Would be pleased to add a photo to show up your flash yellow bags BuryDave :-) But I can't seem copy photos into my reply.....suspect it's a "Fault40" .... ie the fault is 40cm from the screen

Cheers

I have the Ortleib 32L roll bag and it is indestructible for what it is worth.

I presume you need the panniers for Wolfman's ? Looked at them but though if you need the panniers might as well buy hard cases.

soft?

We had softbags, and in Italy they just cut them open, took our stuff out. Now standard BMW panniers, very strong, when we go somewhere to do a hike, or a stroll through the city, we can put our boots and clothing in there, also, when we leave our tent and bikes behind on camping, to go for dinner fi. we put expensive stuff away, safely locked up. Just a thing to think about...

I have had the same problem.Came back to the bike after a coffee break to find panniers sliced open and everything gone. Not quite sure why someone wanted grotty undies, but they did.
I now use the BM panniers, had them for three years and no issues,I also use the pacsafe 80lt to put my bike kit in if camping and staying on the hill for a day or so.Just an idea.

Quite obvious what i meant. But to answer you "Yes" i meant pannier frames.

I have thought about the possibility of getting the soft luggage sliced open, but so far I've not read about this happening to someone. That this have happend to two in one thread makes me think twice about it... :nenau

To be fair, I didn't know what you meant from what you wrote - especially the second part - so Rob isn't the only idiot here. I suggest you go back and read it to see why we were confused by what you were trying to say. Rob and I speak English :D

Apologies, I didn't realize i made that mistake. Meant to say "do you need the pannier frames". :blast

Been using the Ortlieb soft panniers on my F800GS for a couple of years. I solved the heat-from-the-exhaust issue with a $25 Giant Loop heat shield (which could be easily made oneself; I'm lazy). I use the same panniers on my 250 enduro. Ortlieb makes very durable stuff.

P.S. I'm in Canada; I have more problems with bears and porcupines than with knife-wielding Italians
