osbe tornado helmet

I've got one

I bought one about a month ago to go to Austria with the optional mouth piece. In the pouring rain its not so good but on a sunny day it's fab. Dirt also got between the tinted vidor and main visor and left small scratches which is a shame but ultimately I prefer to use it with sunglasses and for that I love it. It has an unusual look and is roomy around the ears. It has the ratchet style buckle and all in all is a nice lid. I know Tarka has one too.

You`ll love me in mine then. :D :augie

I`ve had mine for a couple of years now and worn it most days.

It`s been a great helmet but one big snag is that grit can get caught between the tinted inner visor and the clear outer one,and it`s a bitch to try and clean between them without making any sctartching even worse.
You can only lower the tinted visor when the clear one is down, you see. Dismantling to clean them independently is a bigger bitch of a job.

It`s as good for high speed as for low speed poodling about (I wore it when I went to the Ardennes on my Buell last October) but on some bikes it can lift or rotate slightly as the back of it is short.
Wind blast from lorries going in the opposite direction can cause it too.

The apparent size of the OSBE externally is due to its helicopter/jet pilot style with the outer cover over the visor.

It was originally sold as a Lazer brand helmet in matt olive green.....`Nam style.
The same helmet is also sold by GPA in numerous funky or military style colourschemes.

There`s a clip on rubberised face shield which gives it a real Dan Dare sci fi appearance but I don`t like using it as I`ve mostly gone off full faced helmets.

As for size/fit comparison you really need to try any helmet for yourself...but the inner shape seems more biased to rounded heads and the sizing of them is on the generous size.
