This stuff is pretty cool and a great way to utilise my iPaq 2210 with TomTom bluetooth Navigator.

However, Brodit mount is £144!!

Has anyone fitted an Otterbox 2600 with a Ram mount, as I am keen to go that way.

Or can anyone get a cheap Brodit waterproof mount?Oh yes, and does this fit a GS handlebar??

Let me know

Ta.

I know a Dutch bloke who has fitted an Otterbox 3600 with a RAM mount, pictures to be found here. I expect the 2600 should work the same way.

If you intend to feed a cable into the box, then you need a 3600, as this is the box which has the cable ports, which the 2600 doesn't. But the 3600 is pretty pricey.

I am currently making my own waterproof case from an Ortlieb document bag. I shall post pics when I'm done.

Good luck.

Have you looked at Pelican cases??

They seem to be the waterproof case of choice on Advrider and have a huge range.

As this is my first post, I'd say Hi to everyone first.

I fitted an Otterbox on my 2004 1150GS. I'm also using a 2210 with TTN3. It works like a charm, not problem to attach it to the GS handlebar. Just make sure you get the cable passthrough option if you want to get the sound and power cables out of the box (I do!).

The case is waterproof, dustproof, and very sturdy. It's a bit bulky, but I'm happy with the protection.

Be careful when you fill it up, petrol stains the plastic cover very easily..

Last thing, the armor 3600 with magnet for the tank is really good as well if your GPS is a blutetooth one. I've got a copilot (emtac) and it fits perfectly.

Let me know if you need more info. I don't know where on earth you are, but there a few resellers of Otter products in France.

Have just ordered an Otterbox 3600 and handlebar mount from a supplier in Brentwood, Essex. Having it delivered on Tuesday - can't wait!! Will be much cheaper than the Brodit unit - and, as I realised yesterday, won't fit onto GS handlebars!!

Yum.

I did this a while ago:

I used it in 2003 because I was going to Norway and my SPIII at the time didn't have any maps of Norway. The TomTom on the pda did. It worked fine but Norway is now included in City Navigator so I have sold the box.

I'm a happy SP2610 user now and I'll get the newest maps if I go to Norway, hopefully next year :)

Cheers,
Michel

Migsel

This looks like the solution I'm looking for
Could you give me some specs ?
Is this an otterbox ( if so which model , available in Belgium ?)
what kind of gps receiver did you use , BT or wired
I use an Ipaq 2210

Thanks

It's an Otter box that I bought from Touratech:

Their art. no. 01-069-0010-0 for 59 euros. I didn't know it was Otter at the time, so I found out later that you can get it cheaper elsewhere. I don't know the Otter specs though, sorry.

The rest is standard RAM stuff. The plate that's screwed to the back of the box is RAM-B-202.

I had the pda (HP Jornada) wired to my Garmin StreetPilot III for the gps signal.

Cheers,
Michel

RAM Aqua Box

I have posted a new thread in 'Toyz" today regarding the RAM Aqua Box.

Its uses the RAM mounting bits so can be used widely.

Two versions coming:
Aqua Box 2 for iPod, Creative, Dell etc
Aqua Box 3 for mini MP3 players.

In summary its general features are: -
* All inclusive sealed casing and Flex-Lens.
* Touch through lens to operate buttons.
* Power, earphone and accessory cables are routed through a self draining baffle design to keep moisture out yet allow device to breath and stay cool.
* Easily locks with any standard mini padlock.
* Flex-Lens can be replaced if scratched or damaged.
* Padded foam interior to provide additional shock and vibration protection.

the rear of the case needs the RAM round base (RAM-B-202 ) not the diamond, so I suggest anyone mounting with the U-bolt uses the RAM-B-149Z-G1 (the SPIII mount) or RAM-B-149Z-Q1 (garmin quest U-bolt option).

Or build up from parts, RAM-B-231Z, RAM-B-201 (3 choices) and RAM-B-202. If crossbar fitting you'll need a RAP-319.

RAM aqua box

Hi Ram Man
Can you post the dimensions of the new Aqua boxes please. I'm looking for a way to mount an HP 2210 with a compact flash GPS receiver that plugs into the top of the PDA.
