Otterburn Ranges Mon 29th Aug

:blast fekk me I thought this was a thread ( a dead un so to speak) about a ride the other Sunday. Just happened on it again as I wondered what a new post was doing on it. :eek

Do you fekkin realise I have just a day and a half to earn some major brownie points ( which whilst possible is gonna take a lot of effort) to attend this ride. :tears

Please date ya thread title as I'd have defo set my alarm like Norm to come on this ride ifI'd have known earlier.

Looks great and I will try my best....if some coont can confirm for sure what day it actually is.

Talk about fekkin dithering

I did say sunday at first, then i checked the weather and it said it was going to be shit on sunday (which has been correct) so i changed it to monday 29th. that was on mon the 22nd. i said i would keep an eye on the weather if it changed i would let you lot know (it has not changed) I go up there all the time and when i get back from America i will do another run for those that can not make this one (everyone happy) :D

Petcul emailed me about tomorrow's ride. Would have joined you all but can't unfortunately. Will keep an eye out for future rides. Have fun chaps.

Looks as though I'll be able to make this run. see you at 11!

Thanks Mick. Great ride. Well, the bit I did with you. Went back to almost where we had stopped before the offroad bit and found the seat. Strapped it on this time:blast and carried on over the track. You were wise not to try it. It's deteriorated a lot since we did it the last time and being the end of the summer there was a lot of grass around.

Didn't find you at the usual places so I meandered around taking advantage of the open ranges. Great ride.

Let me know anytime you're doing the offroad bits.:thumb

PS Used your modification Colin and seat seems secure now:thumb2

Great to catch up with you guys....excellent ride out (apart for Colin's bike deciding to lie down) :eek
Nice pictures Chris and thanks again to Mick.....enjoy your holidays :thumb2

Chieftain Mark 5

Under the terms of the Conventional Forces Europe Treaty (CFE), states had to reduce numbers of equipment held over agreed levels. There were several authorised methods available to states, UK opted for explosive demolition. The UK reduction liability was quite small, so reduction operations were limited. This one took place at Otterburn Ranges, where the Royal Engineers had great fun placing charges in the approved places on the vehicles to blow them in accordance with the treaty. JACIG (Joint Arms Control Implementation Group) inspectors checked the work and more importantly, the finished result to ensure treaty compliance. The tanks then started a second career as Otterburn Ranges hulks.
