Oh dear... its time for the 'second mortgage' service...

What exactly should I expect to be getting for parting with my hard earned cash...?

Are there any extras I should ask them to check over... :nenau

would it not be cheaper to make a long weekend trip to London and engage steptoe to service you.

would that not be cheaper in the long run

Good point Gary, but as you know, Neil has a busy schedule and may not be able to fit me in... :dabone

That would also be a 380 mile round trip  ... ah well looks like I will just have to dig deep and cry into my beer later...

I would like to know if there's any easy bits I could do myself to save some dosh... :nenau

There's a couple of good independant BMW service outlets, in the North

A guy @ Preston, Lancs

RGM - Roy Gardner

http://www.rgm-uk.com/

or Dave Audin who runs Pleasely Motorcycles @ Pleasely, Mansfield - Notts (10 miles from Rainbow @ Rotherham)

http://www.pleasleymotorcycles.co.uk/default.htm

Both are BMW trained and now independants

Sue...

I'll add my support for Roy at RGM.
Excellent service, sensible prices.

He's got my 1150 running so smoothly, he's ruined the "character" of the thing. :D

Seriously, he's a top man - I'm happy to recommend him to all on the site.

Ditto what Steve says about Roy Gardner .

However, regarding the 'second mortgage', to save money you could do all the oils and filter plus valve clearances, plugs and air filter at home, then go somewhere just for the 'techy stuff'....

Isn't the 60000 mile service a normal 12k one? It should have had the fuel filter changed at 48k and the alternator drive belt isn't due until 72 (though it will do no harm to check it at 60, it doesn't take long).

Brilliant... spoilt for choice now... I suppose its a case of which is the nicest run out with the bike...? :D

I still have the warrenty untill May and was wondering if anything else should crop up then I could get my dealer to fix it at the same time.. but for the sake of an extra treck back there I'd rather have some dosh in my pocket...

Cheers Tarka.. I reckon the air filter and oil aren't beyond my capabilities.. I'll certainly tick those off the list before I book it in... :thumb

thanks guys... :)
