ouch......

Ouch, get a laser treatment it will help you recover and in a few weeks time you will be back on a bike.

ouch

Top Trumps you Mike.

I had a plaster cast on overnight after my little off earlier in the day as A & E thought it could have been the scaphoid in the wrist.

However the Doc in Trauma has given it the all clear with a splint for a couple of weeks.

But other than that it was a good couple of hours. I had done 120 miles when I came off and it was only 1.30.

COLLER BONE by mfredriksen, on Flickr

Oh dear oh dear! Does this mean I have to drive round to your house to get my tyre changer back as you can't deliver it? :toungincheek
But seriously, sorry to hear about this and that you won't be with us for my only rally of the year:(

No,
you're just not trying hard enough.
It's "ARRRRRGGHHHH!!!!!" not ouch.
You'll not got much sympathy with that from this lot.
A better header / title on your thread - More whimper and a little grimace in your tone.

That's the way to do it. ;)

oh - Get well soon - sore things them.

its 50/50 if it needs plating - so i suspect it'll be weak if they dont. Back down to RBH on Tues for a decision.

Reckon I'll be pushing for a plate.

Next Tues 20th....

Gonna call today and see if they will take a look sooner, taking advice of others even if it knits its going to be weak broken the way it has.

Sorry to hear about your break, rubbish timing re the upcoming rallies. If you can be bothered to travel to Ipswich Brian Simpson is the man to help you heal faster.

Off to RBH again next Tues to see fracture docs. Earlier this week he said with the separation as it is, it would normally be 70% chance of a plate being needed - but as there are bone fragments in the gap its actually 50% chance.

Spoke to Brian's clinic they said:

- bit of bone separated is redundant, it could be removed

- it might knit with bone, esp as there are fragments between

- it might strengthen with scar tissue, even if it does not knit with bone

- its a bad place to plate

Their treatment, 3 sessions in a day (£260) would probably help.

Looking on the web, breaks with distinct separations respond less well to laser - perhaps not at all.

So have pencilled in treatment on Weds, see what the doc says Tues.

Most ortho's either don't know of, or don't rate Brian's techniques. We only found out about him via Si Pavey as he recommends him. He did a fab job on Martin's leg, but regularly travelling to Ipswich from here is a big commitment.

At the end of the day it'll be as much about how quickly do you want to get back on a bike again as anything else! Speak to Loz (if you haven't already) as he has been through the same thing.

Mike popped in to see me today and for some reason felt compelled to start taking his clothes off........

Just a quick update...

Was in Royal Berks yesterday to get it plated.

In and out same day, great stuff. Surgeon said it was a bit of a mess, but he tidied it up and all good now.

Out for 3 weeks min so can't even do Timpos alternator weekend

That made me feel sick - not the bruise - the picture of a topless male model.......

Must be your animal magnetism that compelled Mike to start stripping off, at what point did he stop?

That's quite a bruise Mike, hope you're getting well nursed at home.

Went out today on the 690, quite eventful, had a drowned 530 and I stepped off the 690 at one point but the bike hit the back of my ankle and forced the ankle to bend over more than I'd have liked despite wearing decent boots. Now hobbling about, report in the TRF newsletter to follow.
