Hi guys, I thought I would paste a link to some pics of our ride in the Cederberg this weekend (22 & 23 January 2005). It was a great ride, generally a safe trip except for a broken wrist (David, get well soon) and a few dings to wheel rims and bash plates, broken mirrors and indicators and scratched heads (cylinder heads that is) and a few puctures (btw. 5 mins to repair a punture on a GS, that was including removing the wheel and sticking it in a dam to find the hole, and 1.5 hours to repair the Africa Twin puncture)

The ride was hosted by the Cape Town Africa Twin club but is open to any suitable dual purpose bike.

(do not try and cross a dry river bed with underlying rocks at speed, it just does not work!)

:D hehe, this was a farm house in the middle of no-where, the area is on a plateau, extremy dry, last had rain 4 years ago. We asked the farmer the same question, why all the burglar bars and safety gates, surely in such a secluded area there is no risk of crime ??? His response was...

"my vrou het dit opgesit om my by die huis te hou, anders gaan ry ek"

translated,

"my wife put it up in order to keep me at home otherwise I go riding" :P

He owns a 650 Dakar, he is the 'ol man' with the white hair in the photos, loves his bike and rides it often, rides very well.
