Leaving cochem last week ( on 2011 GSA) dash shows 56 miles to zero. Two blocks showing on fuel gauge, covered 300 miles from full tank, then suddenly bike runs out of fuel.

Swilling bike side to side I could clearly hear juice sloshing around in tank.

5L jerry can of fuel and she fires back into life.

What gives ???

It was on the wrong side lobe.

Do a quick search here for lobe pump and you'll find lots of similar discussions

The transfer pump (sucking jet pump) in the tank right hand side is not transferring the fuel to the left side where the fuel pump is.
This was covered in a topic some time ago and it turned out to be the fuel pump at fault.
It was not flowing a sufficient return to operate the transfer pump and the bike would run out of fuel when in fact there was loads in the left side of the tank.:rob

I had the same on the M6 Toll road last week, just 2 miles from the service station. Gauge showed 30 miles left, and it ran out of fuel. After a couple of minutes of rocking the bike as far from side to side as I could, the bike fired up, and I got to service station OK, but the bike still only took 27 ltrs!

Will mention it at the next service!
