Hi, I am about to move house and will initially be without a garage for a few months. Can anyone recommend a cover suitable for outdoor use that will protect my GS 1200 with Standard Screen and Vario panniers fitted? There is a good review of covers in last months' Ride magazine but I am looking also for sizing information which the article didn't cover. Many thanks.

What a coincidence BeemerBaz, I bought one of those from Protech Shelters to keep my Smart Brabus Roadster in. Makes an ideal place to finish off cleaning the bike if it starts raining!

How about one of these:

Guys, thanks for the sensible answers. I'd seen the article in this months' Ride magazine rating the covers but I have no experience of sizing them. I don't want one that's too baggy and conversly, one that doesn't do the job.

Sensible answer

I have the motrax deluxe one. Works a treat. Fits a R12GS with all BMW panniers fitted. I pop a cloth over the screen to stop any scratching, but I have never tried it without so it might not scratch at all. No probs with melting onto exhaust and it comes with a convinient attached bag and looks pretty good too. Water shakes off nicely in the mornings.

Hi,

Dunno if you have done a search on here but Oxford Stormex large size is popular (I have one). You can leave you vario's on (I do from time to time) and it fits fine. It has an elasticated hem so not baggy, is vented, has an underbelly strap and also holes for locks front and rear.

Its quite thick, fleece backed and tough as old boots. Had mine for a couple of months at the mo and has been totaly waterproof. Water beads on it just fine!

Looks like it will last just fine for a few seasons. About 60 quid if I remember rightly.
