Outgoing KTM 1190 R £11700 otr

Me too:D

Arsey will be creaming about the Husky.... now that the CRF1000 he has creamed about all year and defended to the hilt has been discarded, like a moist spunk tissue

Discarded ?

I used it all over Europe and then decided it may as well go as the 1290 will be the weapon of choice when that arrives .
As to defending the AT,it was more a case of trying to let people on here know that despite the best efforts of people like yourself and Engineer to slag off everything without a BMW roundel on the tank, there are other options out there and some people may find them better options, possibly why the Africa Twin won virtually every award going this year and was the biggest selling bike of any category and any cc until an earthquake shut the factory.

And you know all about tissues, don't you !!

Now, now Martin don't get so tetchy

I think the AT 1000 is a fab bike, so you must have got me mixed up with engineer

Had a brief ride on one and it was fab - far better than any BMW parallel twin

You can if you are a normal human being and have ridden bikes for years.....If you are one of these new nancy boys that uses moisturisers and thinks they need some kind of fairing or wind break, then you will snap your neck or have muscle ache, I call it being a homosexual, like Nutty is.

Strange how a thread about discounts on KTM's has diverged so far from the OP :blagblah:blagblah

Had to check that I was still in the orange section rather than the Pub/Gnarley Bar :augie

I did say BMW Parallel Twin:augie

For road riding, I personally like the Telelever set-up and it suits me...........so I prefer Boxer twins, because no other manufacturer fits it

As you can gather, I'm no fan of a 1200 Boxer though...........much preferring the 1100/1150 Boxer versions

I certainly wouldn't by the latest Boxer, no matter what the hype

Back to topic, I am glad I bought mine at a huge discount (£10,995 for an S Model) even if they come down to £10,500 I still had the summers use out of it, fantastic time for people to buy.

I basically bought the sort of bike I would never have dreamed off normally, not because I cannot afford one, just never been able to justify much over £10k for a new / nearly new motorcycle and certainly the £14k and upwards for BMW and KTM's range topping bikes.

I would not say there will be another opportunity like this as there will, but they are not always around so if anyone fancies a new bike now is a good time, may be even better in the new year on a 17 plate - but you're gambling with any being left.

If a deal like this comes up in another 2 years or so I would be very tempted again, assuming the new models are any better - but the cruise control almost does it for me, if they can get a f****g fuel gauge to work as well and an airbox that works it will be as good as a done deal.

Might be a while - all 2016 spec. bikes have to be registered this year due to Euro4, hence the discounts. Then 2017 models will likely get a price rise due to extra costs from Euro4 and currency fluctuations. We will see discounting on a scale that is unlikely to be repeated for a good while, in Nov/Dec for new bikes and in the first few months of next year for pre-reg bikes for the left overs.

Possibly true to a point but, to be fair, KTM always discount heavily/run decent incentives at this time of year.

Agreed - look at the discounts on the 2016 1290 SA - it is already Euro 4 compliant and remains virtually unchanged for next year.

KTM have a bit of a reputation for discounting the road bikes/travel bikes not long after launching them - as much as I like KTM's I would never buy one at anywhere near full list price ;)

.........will be interesting what discounts I could get on a 1290S come this time next year :D

Those pre-reg bikes will be having any bling left in the shop added to the deal so waiting is the best bet but it's a case of how long dare you wait before pressing the buy it now button? :D

Back in the fold :Duchess as I lost my nerve and pressed the button :D

Had a good look at the Africa Twin which will be great value ( imagine saying that about these prices five years ago) when they start discounting those but having just cut a cash deal on a new unregistered 1190R for the same price as a manual AT I know exactly how many smiles to the pound are coming my way courtesy of the Orange as I've trod this path before :bounce1
