Have managed through incomptency to let my Outlook folders go over the 2gb (okay!) limit and it has detached the PST file that contains the Inbox, calendar and contacts etc.

I have a new one attached (automatically) to keep the mail working.

I have also run the MS supplied exe to shrink the original outlook.pst.

But,

How to re-attach the newly shrunken file (cropped.pst) to Outlook.

Running Outlook 200 on XP Home.

Any advice accepted gratefully.

isn't something like...:nenau

from Outlook

  • File
  • Open
  • Outlook Data File

the select what you want and it reappears in your outlook sidebar

I use XP at work and am struggling to remember....:blast

With Outlook closed:

Run a search for Outlook.pst
Rename to OutlookOLD.pst
COPY Cropped.pst to location of OutlookOLD.pst
Rename Cropped.pst to Outlook.pst

Open Outlook and you should be ok............do some pruning!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OR

...use the File, Import/Export facility to brwse to the Cropped.pst file and choose what you do and don't want to import.

You could archive the pst to allow you to keep using it. I used to archive year-wise, but since using 2003, no need, it just gets bigger and bigger and....

Tried that and NFG.

When outlook starts new it asks for a PST to use, so I uninstalled office (doh!) and now the 2000 Office Pro CD fails on a file, that just happens to be scanpst.exe on the CD!

Back to drawing board.
