Lads and Lassies,

I think it was mentioned here some time back - but who's going on the "Over the Gap" run in aid of Barrettstown on the 19th of April?

Looks like it will be a good day out - with BBQ afterwards back at Barretstown Castle. And raising money for a well deserved charity.

I hope to do it too. I rang them earlier and they told me that the route is changed now - down the N81 to Baltinglass, to Tullow and Shillelagh and possibly back by the Wicklow Gap. Apparently they were advised that the Sally Gap was not the safest route to take with a large group of bikes.

And as I haven't met any of the tossers yet it would be great to say hello to a few on the run, and of course at the Barbie afterwards :aidan

Did I miss something?

your a sharp one you are, there was never an easy way to tell anyone this but I longer own a BMW 650gs :JB
Don't get me wrong its a great bike but I'm in this for fun and the bike terrified me, so result was I wouldn't go out on it unless Ken (big mouth) was with me.
I'm now the very proud owner of a virago 250 I love it and more importantly I go out on it on my own :clap:clapand even went to Duffy's last Sunday for MSA day. and done a lot better than I expected too.:thumb2

So now secret is out thank god.

I am on Barretstown run on 19th but I was going as pillion but as they have changed the route I think I will take my own bike.

Well fair play to ya girl. Instead of leaving the bike in the garage and just being afraid of it, ya went out there and sorted the problem. :thumb
You never know - once you get a few miles under your belt, the 650 might not seem as scary. Enjoy the virago and defo bring it along to the Charity run. Does this mean you get to wear leathers with tassles? :augie

Thanks, after first run on bike I knew I had made the right decision. I have leathers but no tasseles I think i'll leave that to the rest of the chopper brigade.
I'm glad the run was changed no way I would go over the gaps with all the Sunday lunatics out there.

Looking forward to the day

Hi guys,
Thank you all so much for showing your interest in the event. We look forward to seeing you on the day and glad the reduction in gaps hasn't dampened your enthusiasm:JB

Please email me if you haven't already received your sponsorship pack ([email protected])

This Weekend!

Guys and Gals,

Just a reminder that this event is on this weekend.

I just got my sponsorship pack, and they will be looking for insurance details on the day to ensure everyone has full bike insurance.

If anyone can't attend but would like to donate something to this worthwhile charity, I have setup a mycharity page for the event.

http://www.mycharity.ie/event/orla_mccleans_event/

For anyone that doesn't know about it already, Barretstown is a specially designed camp, providing a programme of adventure, activities and fun - backed by the medical world - which helps children with serious and often terminal illnesses regain their confidence and self-esteem.

http://www.barretstown.org

All donations no matter how big or small will be gratefully received!

Thanks!

Orla

I'm going on the ride tomorow, does anyone know if we need all our sponsorship cards and money in tomorrow ? :aidan

Ive sill got some people to see :D

Pass the Rennies please!

Coffee and Milky bar in Pollaphuca, pastries and coffee when we stopped at the garage, lots of organic pastries and coffee in Macreddin, chicken wings, burgers etc back in Barretstown:drool

I know that bike riders are sometimes a bit portly but this looks like an campaign to drive the cholesteral levels skyward;)

Seriously 'tho. This was a seriously well organised and managed run today. They even arranged for the weather to be superb:cool:

Well done to all - both organisers and participants, it was a great day:bow

I hope a serious amount of money was raised:D

Tom
