This is from the TRF website, by a chap called R.Simpson:

You know all those lanes that we used to ride?

The restricted byways that are blocked by new growth, fallen trees, illegal gates, dumped cars etc.

If you are passing one and have a camera handy, could you photograph it and send details of where it is and who you are to me please on.

[email protected]

The photographs don't have to be outstanding works of art, but they do need to be of publishable quality, so no fuzzy lo-rez efforts please. If you can actually get the Restricted Byway sign in the shot, so much the better.

Why?

I'm collecting a portfolio of the damage which the NERC act has caused to the Rights of Way network to the detriment of all classes of user.

I can make no promises as to what I will eventually be able to do with it, because I am very much in the hands of people taking the pictures.

Howerever, they will be used to highlight the issue in areas away from motorcycling. Putting articles in motorcycle magazines is all very well, but won't shift public opinion by so much as a degree. Presenting a case for reopening RBs to motorcycles on the grounds that while they might make a bit of noise for a few minutes and disturb the surface a little they do have a benefit in keeping the way clear which lasts far longer than any momentary irritation which they might cause could persaude some members of public that on balance we do more harm than good.
