Overheating, help

Just got my bike ( 2000 650 gs gd ) from Alan Jeffries where it had had some work done. It was overheating and I had noticed the radiator fan wasn't kicking in. This has been repaired and now seems to be working fine.

On my way home though I noticed it is still bloody overheating ( light coming on ) every time I sit for more than a couple of minutes at lights etc on tick over.

Anyone any ideas on what I could look for to save taking it back again

Nice one John. Had a quick look and noticed something about the oil being over filled could cause overheating. Easy thing to check so I went for that and it appeared it was indeed too full.

When I drained some out it was not in very good condition ( which I thought weird as it came approved used only 8 months ago when it supposedly had a service ) so I replaced the lot.

I put semi - synthetic in, I assume that's ok, anyway early indications are this may have cured the problem

I'm wondering if it's actually overheating or is the temp.light sender playing up and the light is coming on at a lower temp. than it should?
I had my temp sender replaced under warranty for that reason.
