OVERLAND AND CLASSIC, saturday airhead technical/maintenance workshop 15th november

I took a few photos.

Great day, good company and learned a few things too. Still didn't get my gutters cleaned though.

Thanks to Mikeyboy, Duncan and Rob for an interesting day, good food and good chat too.

Great Day out.

Good company, good food, good subject matter.

Mikeyboy thanks for use of the facilities.

Rob and Duncan, thanks for the technical side.

Thanks for all others attending....it made the day.

Did pick up a few tips.

No photographs I'm afraid though.

Yes, very good day, and also learnt a few things too!
Great to meet people, and thanks to Rob, Duncan and Mike, and also to Mike's lovely dog whose
name I forget!
Must have another one in the Spring maybe?- Bike Day that is, not dog.
Tuffty, sorry about your gutters, but sure you can persuade
someone to lend a hand- ....

Thanks Mike for a great day. Nice ride home in the fog, not! The joys of airhead ownership are now exposing themselves, idle after the constant throttle of the A1 is now hovering around 3.5k, rear end inc panniers liberally coated in what smells like gear oil. It'll have to wait until the weekend now, off on a jolly first thing in the morning.

Really enjoyed the day, thanks to Mike Rob and Duncan for putting it on. Great to meet some "Airheads"....
Fired up my enthusiasm to get moving on my r100/7.
Loved every minute of the ride home on my new fangled 1190, bikes are great !

Thanks mike Duncan and rob ,learnt lots hope some might stick. Bit of a hairy ride home in fog and cold and rain half hour in shower to try to warmup.

Again thanks to Mike, Duncan and Rob, great day and great to meet up with everyone.

Colin

Thanks muchly Mike and Rob for sharing their expertise and time.

Was good to meet some more people from here and generally talk bollix while pretending to learn stuff

Oh dear - sounds like you might have the "Beancan" problem - the springs in the Beancan need greasing, as it sounds like the advance/retard bob-weights are sticking, and this tends to happen around 3-4000rpm, when the engine gets warmed up. Very straightforward to fix though.
As for the oil over your panniers - maybe a drain plug leaking......least it'll stop the rust for a while !

But apart from the above, the bike ran OK? And the tyres behaved ?

Oh - Tufty ...just spent the morning cleaning the leaves out of my guttering....didn't even need to refer to the Manual - ideal job for you......:hide:topic:topic

Oil leak

Found it.........................

Anyone got an M8x1 Helicoil kit? That's the metric fine one not the normal M8x1.25 Failing that I'll just take it out to M10

Thanks

All sorted now. Tapped it out to M10.

New shock and progressive springs fitted, new fork seals and gaiters too. Gearbox oil changed again back to mineral GL5. Nice and slick again. Bean can opened up to lube just need a good run to see it it has worked.
