Owl strike, ouch.....

This is turning into the Fisherman's Tales thread

I've never been hit by flying poultry while on a bike, but I once had to dodge a tray of chips & gravy.

I remember being asked if i wanted gravy with my chips up in mansfield once, i thought she was taking the p*ss. Never heard of that in Birmingham years ago never mind dodging it.

What type of owl, no idea, but it flew out directly in front of my head, banked immediately, guess it saw me, and looked about fucking 3 foot across, seriously it was really huge so perhaps a barn owl?
I know it felt like a freight train hitting my head!

As for the new visor, I am replacing the helmet after due consideration, it was a serious impact

if the owl was brown it was probably a tawny ,or white / brown barn owl

Glad you are ok there are a lot of Pheasants around here, on last years Llangollen rideout Dahoum nearly tagged one when I was following him, I hit one in the dark in mid overtake at about 75-80, thankfully it ran rather than flapped and the front tyre got it dead centre.
