Ownership Update R1200GS Rallye

Had the bike a few weeks now. I've changed the seat to the Rallye seat (R1250 version I think). Added some Unit Garage hand guard extenders. I have ordered some Motoz Tractionator GPS tyres.

Loving the bike so far. Such a pleasure to ride.

This was probably my favourite ever bike, bought it brand new and should have never sold it.

Thats a stunner for sure, beautiful GS. I’m sure everybody on here have a regret re selling a bike and wish they still had it. My biggest regret was selling my R1200GS Rallye, had it from new. It never let me down, toured around France on it and did lots of U.K. travel/trips on it. Enjoy your steed Motor84

Thanks @Alistairfinlay and @Spook1969 I looked at many others and was thinking of financing a new R1300GS. But the Rallye just called to me! I think its a sweet spot. Late K50 bike with most of the tech you get on a 1250GS but not silly money to buy. The blue frame just makes it!

Yes but not loads. Going to Wales soon to do some light fire roads. End goal is Morocco in the next 12 months.

Its the R1200GS Rallye. Which is the LC later one. I think only made 2017 and 2018 but might be wrong.

Yes, looks better without it, although I’m sure it will be harder to clean!

Only ridden back from the tyre place so far. They need scrubbing in. Bit more noise, and I did feel there was more of a shoulder on the tyre. But so far so good.

I like Micro tweaks. I kept the black grab rail having tried the silver Rallye one. I bought the Rallye seat which still works with the 2023 colours. Only tweet I’d like to make is get rid or tuck the aux lights in a bit, but they do the job well.

That looks very nice! Black grab rail looks right on yours, agreed. I would love to put gold wheels on mine one day. Got to spread the spending out a bit though!

Very nice mods, I have the same (2018) model with Rallye seat and have now removed the unsightly rear splash guard. Is your rack the short stainless rack off the R1250? If so, I'm guessing it fits the R1200GS even though it seems to be listed only for the R1250GS?

Yes @Steelyboy I bought the rack on Ebay. Its from the R1250GS. I think most of the rear end of the R1200GS LC (2017-18) is the same as the R1250GS. I saw one on a 1250 and thought it worked better with the Rallye seat. The standard one is much bigger and chunkier.

This is the one. But I paid £100 for a 2nd hand one.
