Has anybody else bought a 1200gs from Oxford BMW,I did in early september and i am still waiting for my owners manuel,as i am new to BMW's i would like to read it to make sense of a few things, not bieng picky or anything ,just paid out a lot of money for a machine i know nothing about!!!
Sorry for the rant, new member Fillis.......
:tosser

Can't understand the delay...the maual is also the service record if I recall correctly...a spare can be ordered from the dealer anyway quite quickly so they should get you it asap....

Problem is ... there is none ... quite a few bikes came in September without one ... I got a few earlier this week but am still outstanding one or two ... shouldn't be too long...

If you need to know anything just give them a ring ... or even better go in with a packet of biscuits ... I'll talk for hours after a few plain chocolate Hobnobs...

GS HANDBOOKS

I understand from Phil Davies at North Oxford that 'Fillis' was sent a handbook about a fortnight ago (strange no acknowledgement of this by Fillis?). Speaking with Barry the parts guy he showed me on the screen where neither BMW (UK) or BMW (AG) have any stock of this handbook so perhaps give the dealer staff a break as it would appear to be a BMW fault. :nono

Got it

Got back from me hollidays today, and its on me door mat!!!! :D

Just wanted to add that i picked up a new 1200 GS from North Oxford BMW on the 21st September. Everything was ready including all manuals, and i have to say the experience was a thoughly professional one.
I have since had the bike back in for a 600 mile service, for which there was absolutely no charge, and i even got the original tool kit upgraded FOC to the better one (i did have to whinge about it a bit first).
So all in all no complaints.
Bikes pretty good too..... :clap

NOG and Cooper Reading

Oxford BMW or NOG as they are affectionately known get top marks from me. Attitude, service, advice, availability all get a big tick in the box.

Contrast that with Cooper Reading - something very wrong there. I turned up at 3 today and the bike office is locked up and lights out - A4 sheet in window says go to car service reception. No-one at home for bikes at car reception and car guy does not know how to access the bike admin system. I walk away incredulous - BMW Cooper allow a customer walk away....sad since Tim and Andy had this operation working smoothly from my perspective 12 months ago...

Sounds like the car guys are squeezing them out, I think they make serious money on cars, and the bikes are just a side line. Perhaps it might be better for someone to start up a bikes only dealer, although neither Oxford or Alton are an unpleasant ride away from Reading.

BMW cars v bikes

I was told once by a senior member of the BMW UK Technical team that BMW differentiate car and bike business in a number of ways and high on the list is that bike owners put their hands in their pockets and hand over hard earned cash for iron whilst most of the car 'owners' hanging out' in reception are company car drivers who have no financial interest in BMW or the car.

Worth remembering......

Did they fit the manual holder at the base of the tank under the seat or was this left off as mine was?

Worth hassling them for one (as I did at Vines) as they are a good place to fit an autocom if you ever buy one.

Yep ,just checked! nothing there!!
Got to go to Balderstones on saturday for first service(200 miles over) cant seem to get to Oxford,as they say the bike must be stone cold for service,so going to try the Peterborough optionas they are closer and i can get a lift home....

Balderstons have free loan bikes if you ask for one when you book the service. The excess is pretty steep though.

Adam :)

Not anymore, they charge a crisp £10 for it now, down to their insurance cover.

What's one of them look like then? Haven't noticed anything like that on my bike (bought new from Wollastons)

Is this something else they cut back on as well as the tool kit?
