Packard Bell TE laptop...any good?

I have been using my trusty Acer Aspire for all my video making for years now.

I feel it is time to upgrade, looking at the Packard Bell 15" 8gb RAM, 750gb windows 7 (Don't want windows 8).

Are they held in any sort of high regard at all? (The old Acer has been faultless)


to add: Not bothered about web-browsing on it as I use iPad for sofa surfing.

Aye went in looking at newer Acer but liked the "look" of the PB for the same sort of money.

i thought it would be just the basic editing like me. still takes bloody ages. maybe it's just iMovie, and WMM is quicker?

anyhow, i like the large workspace of a desktop.

Fair enough, I find WMM great tbh doesn't take long at all.

I've been getting away with the small lappy HDDsize (the old trusty acer is only 80gb) by using a big Seagate External HDD.

I prefer laptop so I can do it somewhere comfy, have not sat at the desktop in the spare room for about 2years tbh...must fire it up sometime.

Packard Bell

is owned by Acer.

We've got a PB netbook; had it 3 years and faultless-ish (the paint on the left mouse button has worn through!)

Underneath it says it is an Acer on the OS license....

Can't comment on performance/video except to say that the more I see how well Macs run any graphics, I would look into that.

Spent yesterday setting it all up how I like it,getting familiar with Windows7 and adding programs and suchlike.....


.....got in to work this morning to be greeted with a shiny new DELL desktop in my office, so it's all a bit "Here we go again" At least I know my way around Windows 7 now :cool


As for the lappy at home, yep faultless.....thank you again all.
