Hi guys, going camping in 2 weeks on the bike and never done this before! always took the car. I have a Regatta Malawi 2 Man Pop Up Tent which measures 680mmx100mm. Has anyone found a good way to pack one of these on the bike? or am I better buying a better tent which packs smaller? If so any ideas.

Thanks

Steve

I have a 40 litre Lomo bag that i stuff full with 2 man Lone Rider tent, poles, pegs, self inflating mat and chunky sleeping bag
and that goes across the pillion seat in front of the top box (in fact i don't have the seat just a plate in it's place), 2 bungies and it's on.
Damn site bigger than 100x80mm. I also stuff a full size camping chair across there too :thumb2

One of those pop tents that packs into a circle is always going to be difficult on a bike. I am sure it could be strapped on especially f you don't have a top box but a a tent that you just stuff into a sausage shape and stuff it into a pannier or a top box or into a bag that easily straps down has got to be easier.

Personally I just stuff our tent into one of the panniers along with everything else associated with it and a tarp. I don't fold it or use a bag, just straight into the pannier. Two Helinox chairs go on top along with a few other bits and bobs. The other pannier has the kitchen and food. Big roll bag on the rack has the bedding and a other soft and light stuff. Clothes in a dry bag each on top of the panniers. Tank bag for a few personal items, sweeties and things we buy en-route. Its a 'effing heavy bike with all that on.

2 Roll top 40l waterproof bags strapped on with those small ratchet straps......solid. Also have top box and panniers depending on length of trip. Like Austin says, a tank bag is useful.

A long with a Helinox bed, a chair self inflating sleeping mat,

No top box, so I can fit bag north/south on the rear rack and pillion seat. Sorted!
