Any ideas chaps?

I'm on a 2007 imac, with 1 gig of memory, internet pages are not loading, but if I switch off and back on it is fine for a while.. then does the same thing....

Now on advice I've today doubled my memory ,which does show up as installed... now 2gb

This doesn't seem to cure it.....

If I manually renew the DHCP lease on ip address it then works as it should, for a while ..... It may sound like I know what I'm doing, which is totally not the case... all on advice the other day. I appreciate the DHCP lease is renewed every time the mac boots up.......the 1gb of memory I had installed was nearly all used up, hence the idea to add another 1gb

Any ideas? :beerjug:

Can you reinstall Safari from the App Store?
Have you done any recent updates that may have caused it?

Can't find disc utility so can't repair permissions :blast

Reset safari

Deleted safari at the weekend and re-installed it......no difference .....not aware of anything I've downloaded to cause it

Is your broadband working ok on your iPhones?

Working fine on ipad and phones :thumb2

It seems the problem is intermittent on the mac... last 10 minutes working as it should  edit: just done it again......

Just Googled it & seems to point to a wifi issue on the Mac. When Safari fails is the wifi symbol still showing on screen?

Edit

Can you connect to router via an Ethernet cable to rule out wifi issues?

Ipad working fine, typing this on ipad while page on mac not loading... Wifi still showing as connected on the mac.. In fact its just displayed " you are not connected to the internet' on the mac screen

Just gone through network diagnostics.. And it said internetfailed, server failed.... Then looked again and it says your internet connection appears to be working correctly.....

Have you got an Ethernet cable to try?

Sounds like it could be wifi interference, have you either moved the router or Mac or added something electrical between the mac and the router?

Just had a thought... been having the problems a couple of weeks, and about that time I plugged an extra ethernet cable into the router connected to the sky box..... just unplugged it and will see if it continues to happen :thumb2

Thanks for the input both ... its working at the moment....will plug in an ethernet cable if still having issues :beerjug::beerjug:

Just got the sky wifi adapter for free so didn't use cable on mine.

We've never bothered ordering off box office , but thought we may... hence plugging in the cable..... wifi adapter could be the way forward, but saying that still not ordered a film in the last couple of weeks, too much stuff recorded

Tons of stuff on demand to watch & most free via B band even boxed sets.

We tend to record everything we want to watch, and sometimes don't have the time to watch it later ..... will bear it in mind though :thumby: And mac still working

Just as an update to the problems I was having...... Tried everything, including re-loading Snow Leopard, different ip addresses etc... still the same problem, pages not loading if left for a while....

Anyway.... It's been cured by downloading OSX Mavericks :thumb2 Don't have a clue how... but it is now working as it should :beerjug:

Always better to work with the most up to date op/system as Apple won't update the old op/systems Snow Leopard was superseded to Mountain Lion & now OSX Mavericks . Hope it all works for you
