Had a search through site last night to try and find a paint code or colour for the silver handle bars and screen brackets on a 2012 triple black but no luck! does any one know the code or colour? have got hold of a GSA screen and brackets, have sand blasted them today and primed, just need to find a very close match!

Thanks guys

Steve

They're not painted fella, they're electroplated. That's why you're struggling to find a paint code for them.

yeh and they look cheap shite , i had my bars painted by a painter, looks much better ,i think it was ford strato silver :thumb

I thought they might be, bit like the wheels on my VXR, will have a look at strato silver also someone mentioned hamerite smooth silver was a close match! Not worried about it looking shit I paint things all the time and have a good oven in work!

Just done 2 test cards leave to dry tonight see how they fair tomorrow!

I had trouble with Hammerite chipping. Though it's now owned by Azko Nobel so may well have improved.

I've had many of my parts powder coated. Steering top yoke, brake pedal, rear swing arm, FD outer case, etc and it all looks rather smart.

Did they need it? Not all of them.

The FD case was flaking so certainly needed refinishing and I had the swing arm done to match. With them in the system, the headstock effectively cost me nothing so had it done at the same time.

its only the 2 brackets behind screen that I am doing so the screen should protect the brackets.

I had my Givi AF-330 screen brackets coated. But I did not round off the edges with a file. As the coating thins at the corners its now failing and will have to be re done. I might have them bright zinc plated instead.

There must be a paint colour or code as I have just been looking at the plastic cover over the oil cooler. That is defiantly painted! Same as under rear seat. It seems to be a pretty good match to the brackets! Anyone know this colour?

The colour is very similar to the engine case colour which folks say is a close match to Hammerite smooth silver.

I'll post the 2 samples against the original brackets, but must say they are both damn close! unless you knew you would not notice each!

Paint the plastic luggage tray with the same stuff and be done with it. ;)

Or you could get the lot camo film dipped for that rural look. ;)

No over thinking here! now I've got a match will paint the brackets tomorrow! Job done!

Don't forget the self etch primer. But as the parts are anodised it might still have trouble sticking properly.

Good point, I would suggest after thorough cleaning the first coat of primer is a dust coat, fully dry before further coats.

All parts have been blasted in a mild blaster so all back to original state. Primed up and just waiting to paint

Silver wheel spray is a good match as well its spot on for the vario panniers
