I have been looking for a thread that was on here a few years back, if memory serves me well :rob the mounting points for pannier frames from a r1150r are very close to a gs1150. It may have been a different model. And before you all start the exhaust has been moved. :D
Just trying to reduce the width of the old girl. :D

Pannier frames

Hi All

Can if fit the frames from another bmw model to the gs1150. Only asking as I want to reduce the width of the bike due to the frame on the left being off set to miss the exhaust. :blast

OK - the frames are not offset, but the inner part of the GS's LH pannier has a large cut out to avoid the exhaust. The LH inner box from an RS, RT or R1100S will fit, so long as you have lowered the exhaust. This will give you bags of similar size...

Mike

EDIT: This will not make your bike narrower, but will increase your carrying capacity...

Frames again.

That's fair enough Mike, but if I was to use a third party frame? Givi or sw motech?
I am only asking before I cut down the motech frames I have. Was just wondering if the givi frames from the r1150r for example were a narrower when fitted than the gs1150 frames. :nenau
