Yep. I'm a plonker -its official  Fitted my panniers then tried to negotiate the pedestrian gate and forgot the darned things were on there!!!! :clap

Anyone know of a decent glue to fix a split pannier. Better still, anyone got a LHS pannier going cheap?!

yes they are plastic standard panniers for the 1150. Not heard of Plastic welding though...

Hmm should've taken some pics ... t'was quite funny a few minutes later but not at the time. Ripped it clean off you know.

Araldite is as good as anything for the plastic panniers,it depends on how smashed the pannier is and how determined you are to mend it though

I'll try the araldite -had thought it might work. Its only a split (invisible when pressed together) thought it had worked OK with superglue but split on same line again when I 'locked' it on.

Plastic repair

Plastic welding is very effective and perminant. Ask at your local (motor)bike shop, who dose the fairing repairs for them. Ether that or any large bodyshop. Most cars have plastic bumpers, now many have plastic wings and boot/bonnets you'd be surprised.

Is it just the lid or the back of the pannier damaged?.

Got two lids ;)

i snapped the hook off mine (that bit that hangs it to the rail) just completed 1000 miles in 2 days without anything goin wrong then rode threw my back gate with panniers still on , got it plastic weilded and is spot on apart from the scraches (to both panniers).
