Just placed an order for BMW Aluminium panniers for my GSA.

Any suggestions re good value inner bags?

Thanks in anticipation

I went for the BMW ones.. Was expecting to feel stupid, but actually they give lots of features.

Heavy-duty, and waterproof, and they come with straps to attach them to the top of your panniers... so you double your capacity if, say, you stop at a grocery store on the way to your cottage and need a place to put the grub.

I've decided to use my top-box one as my outside 'wet bag' for putting my bike-cover, wet rain-gear, muffs, and airhawk in. I use the supplied straps and buckles to attach it to the frame over my passenger seat.

I'm glad I bought them, though I'm aware I could have saved a lot of money by buying something else, or making my own.

have Kriega inner pannier which fits perfectly. Hard wearing plus carry strap and handle to carry. All the usual other things.

Is a bit pricey but well worth it.

How often do you use the bags ? i got a CHEAP set new off ebay for £30 and they are as good a quality as the main event ones ( ive had both )

All depends what you want i guess

+1.

The BuMW ones are fantastic quality and 100% waterproof but are expensive considering there are others out there that do as good a job. For a belt and braces job I use Ortlieb's as liners that can be bungied onto the tops if required (or the un-branded equivalent) as they fill the space a bit better. BuMW ones are stiff and have lots of strap hooks :ymca2 that take up space.

Alternatively Berghaus do some Goretex type dry sacs which are just as good and pack down to almost nothing when not required and are inexpensive.

Fluff.

I use bin bags! Also makes a good rain suit.
