pannier liners

There are fine, and cheaper than BuMW's own.
Being thinner they take up a bit less room.
They are not waterproof, so consider putting a plasic bag inside.

Bought a set last year for a European trip. I was accompanied by a friend on an identical bike but without liners. Whenever we stopped, I found it so much easier to carry all three liner bags than he did with his panniers and top box. It usually meant 2 trips to my one. He was so impressed, he will buy some before we go away on a tour again. The are some others advertised that look a little flasher with carrying handles as well as shoulder straps, from another firm. They are a little more expensive (£130) but I don't think you need to spend the extra as the Mane Event ones performed brilliantly. I can't comment on their waterproofness as the BMW luggage never leaked in the first place.
I would recommend these liners to anyone.

Much cheaper than bmw, had mine for 18 months, good quality. never had prob with waterproofing as pans don't leak! Recommend

Had mine for about 4 years and used them on many trips. They're still in good condition, zips and straps still fine etc etc...
My panniers don't leak either. If yours do, then they'll need a bin liner inside them coz they don't look at all waterproof. Highly recommended though.

.... ah, but when you (inevitably) put the bag down on the wet ground (probably in a puddle) when you unpack at your destination, in the pouring rain, then the water will get in... I promise.
A plastic bag inside the Mane event bag does no harm, weighs zip-all and does little to detract from the outward and all important esthetics of the bags.
Do, please, hesitate before asking whether it's a good idea to remove the paniers

Another option is just to buy large rucksack liners from a camping shop, they work a treat, can be sealed, have a handle, and are waterproof!

BMTroubleU ones have extra straps which allow you to attach on top of your panniers. Pretty handy when you need the extra space.

I have the touratech ally panniers and have got the M&S shopping bags in mine, (the reusable canvas type)
They are very strong and I have had them in mine for 3 years now, they have handles and they are the same size as the panniers.
The one I have in the larger pannier is a freezer one so very slightly insulated, and has a zip closure.
And they only cost a couple of quid. Waitrose also do the same sort of canvas bags these are also the same size as the pannier.

What are you on??? Who in their right mind puts a pannier liner down in a puddle? It is not inevitable, having owned a set you just open the panniers and topbox, throw the shoulder straps over said shoulders and walk into warm/dry place. My God, what's wrong with some people? The guy just wants a bit of sound advice. I could go on to say don't sit in the road cuz inevitably you will get run over by some blind git in a car/lorry. The mane event bags are great but if you want something totally watertight buy whatever you like and leave it in your home, that way the water can't get in.

Even old Stick managed to spot it, take it in, digest it and work out that non-waterproof bags may well need some sort of simple prophylactic to stop their contents becoming wet or damp. Sound advice all round, I would have thought.
As to what sort of twit puts their non-waterproof bags down in a puddle? This is the 1200 Technical section, take your pick from a potential cast of 100's. Maybe your friend carting their filthy panniers and top box in and out, up and down, fits the bill?

I bought the beemer bags as I was told by all that the standard ali panniers leak. Mine certainly don't. I'd still never risk it, I always have all my clothes in some form of waterpoof bag.
Putting damp clothes on in the morning is just grim.

I have these liners
The reason they are not classed as waterproof is the zips, otherwise the material is waterproof. As they are top loaders you should be OK with puddles or water at the bottom of panniers.

I brought the BM liners, they are strong and waterproof, however they do rob you of considerable space in each box. The beauty of them I suppose is they are made for the boxes a zip to size and have useful zipped conpartments in the tops, which I use for documents / money etc. Hope this helps

....if so, mine have only one central zip, and no pockets??....have they changed the design? I rate the BMW liners to be honest...strong, waterproof and made to fit, generally a great product I reckon.

My bm ally panniers are bloody airtight - so much so that sometimes you cant open them. The latest model ally panniers have air relief valves built in

Yes I do. The liners I have I brought last year and they have a separate mesh pocket in the lid of the bags and a smaller zipped pocket on the mesh section. Really good kit, just a bit bulky. Mine also have expanding zips on the bottom side. I thought they were all the same, apparently not.
