Quickie, will the GS rails fit the adventure?

GS Panniers will only fit ADV if you change the ADV passenger foot rests

Not if it's got the original stock rear pillion footrests and hangers like like the GS1150.
You only have to change them for the alloy GSA ones when fitting the GSA alloy boxes (and the alternative pillion hangers come in the fitting kit).

Am I also correct in saying that the Black BM top box will not fit the ADV rack - and that the only BM top box that will fit the standard ADV rack is the Ali one, or do they change this when they factory fit the Ali Panniers?

Cheers

The plastic BMW TopBoxes won't fit the GSA rack, only the top plate for the BMW alloy box............unless Touratech/Wunderlich do anything................but I doubt it.
Givi/Kappa do a plate for GSA rack,so you can mount one of their boxes I gather.............

'Mine came with the Ali Boxes - I felt that these were OTT for "shopping" so I fitted "normal Black BM ones - and had to buy new footrests - I wonder where the originals went - presumably if you buy an ADV with Ali Panniers fitted Mr BMW keeps the original footrests'

If you make a point of asking the dealer you get the original footrests back.
When I bought my bike it didn't cross my mind for a week or so that the standard footrests were missing, I rang the dealer and they said that they had still got them. When I picked them up they were in a box marked up 'spare BMW footrests', I guess I deprived someone of a 'drink'.

Can someone help me maybe, I have a guy and he wants to sell me the racks and original BMW panniers from his 1150 Adventure. He has the aluminium ones now, but he bought some plastic ones as an interim while he didn't have the proper silver ones. So now he wants to sell me the racks and black panniers that are now redundant.

I am only talking about the side panniers, I have a top box, so do not need to know about that.

I have an 1100, but following this thread and others it seems that:

1100 and 1150 panniers are the same (presumably if he's talking about black plastic ones then they are the same for the 1150 as the 1150 Adventure?)

If the luggage racks on the 1100 and the 1150 are the same then presumably these are the same for the adventure? correct?

Also he says that they have elastic bits inside, but previously I have heard about 'inner bags', should there be some 'inner bags' with them, or is this not standard?

If someone can give me a quick confirmation that there should be not problem putting them on mine I would gladly buy that person a beer at the next meet.

Thanks,

David

Great thanks, that's what I thought

If I decide to buy them, I will probably try to fit them there and then so it should be no problem.

Are the pannier rails difficult to fit and do they require any additional screws/bolts? (presumably he will have these as well for me, if he had them mounted, but it would be handy to know)

David
