I had a search but couldn’t find anything so I wondered if anyone had come across a solution to storing panniers - I have BMW alli panniers.

Ideally I’d like something that fastens to a wall that I can mount and lock my panniers to using the standard locks, I imagine butchering a set of bike brackets would be expensive!

Hope that made sense :D

I was thinking about the same thing recently. If you had a HD there would be loads of options.

Looked into this about 18 months ago as I store my Givi top box high up on the garage wall using an old Givi rack plate screwed to the wall . Easiest way to do it would have worked out picking up a pair of pannier mount rails from a breaker and make up brackets to fit to the wall.

In the end just decided to keep them on top of the wardrobe in the bedroom, but went as far as contacting my dealer to ask if they had any accident damaged ones I could butcher or any ones from warranty claims ( apparently they are only bits on a bmw that do not corrode)

Reckon though that if you can solder you could make up a set of brackets using copper piping and bends that would take the weight of empty panniers , the smaller stepped panier would be the difficult one

Mark Hooton here :) the problem (for me) in this case isn't sobriety rather the fact the holding frame has to be tubular and very sadly I've got no tube forming kit whatsoever - I've thought about getting some but for a proper machine it's about £20k and as much as I love my job and bikes and making stuff for other bikers I just can't justify that sorta dosh! Sorry and I wish I could've been more helpful - perhaps a simple shelf?

I like simple solutions and a shelf is pretty simple, however my main aim was being able to lock the panniers up.

I might have a go with a couple of tubes and some chain for the pannier locking mechanism, something along the lines of the Pragmasis anti pinch pin.

Wunderlich stuff is only for the Varios and not the alloy boxes sBUT having done a bit more digging a company in poland that makes bike luggage http://holan.pl/en/ do bare pannier hoops which could easily be adapted , the normal loop for the full size pannier is 30 euroas and the stepped loop for the cutaway pannier is 50 euros

They are the correct size and same diameter tube as BMW /Touratech use , look like they would need four tabs welded on to allow the BMW panniers to fit tightly and lock into position and they would need a couple of wall brackets welded on the back
