Hi Folks
Just to say we have now completed our prototyping of aluminium panniers for the new R1200GS LC. These panniers are made of 2mm aluminium (powder-coated inside and out and available in any colour) and are also top-opening. This has the added advantage that items can be easily removed from the pannier without everything falling out (which seems to be the common complaint with side-opening panniers). We have used the existing fittings on the bike (so no additional frames are necessary) and said panniers lock on to the bike but can be easily removed.
They will be on display at the forthcoming Bike Show at the NEC, Birmingham starting Saturday 23rd November. We will be exhibiting in Hall 4 Stand No E12 so if you are at the exhibition come and stop by. If you are not able to make the show they will be featured shortly on the Stahlkoffer website.
Bernie, Philippa and Steve.

Sounds great to me. especially if its without the need to additional frame. Any pics to show? I would be buying a set soon as i am waiting for my '14 delivery.. they said it will be after Christmas..:(

Very interesting that you use the existing mountings, without frames. And a long time coming.:thumb

Hi... Interesting.. I'm going to the show to 'find' suitable panniers & also to see crash bars in the flesh.
Would have liked a piccy & a price on here though...
I await with interest...
My pm works... (hint)

I will post some photos as soon as I manage to get the hang of downloading them. I believe they will come out at less than £600:00 (including powder-coating, stainless steel nuts, bolts, locks etc. and VAT).

Bernt, can you fit a full face crash helmet in either of your boxes? (I'm guessing only non exhaust side may be possible?

Can you state the volume of each?

Panniers

Ive seen them and they are great , much better than the framed ones , suits and compliments the bike , cant wait for the full production type.
Well done Bernie.:thumby:

I already have panniers.:nenau

I'll move the thread though, because I want to, not because I've been told to.:P:D

I disagree, the thread alerted me to a specific item.. For the bike I'm looking for bits for..
If it was general manufacturing or sales put in vendors section..
I guess both won't do any harm..

+1 I wouldn't have noticed this in the vendor section. Glad it was posted here. Any chance you can boot the non-WC owners back into the oil/air-heads forum Nutty?

I saw these panniers today. If you want some metal boxes for your LC, without the scaffolding, they are a great alternative.:thumb
