Panniers - Marmite?

And luckily for Nuts his lucky wedding paraphernalia was in the way and absorbed much of the blow........

Rant over and back to your point - thankes fella for a modicum of recognition of all my efforts :beerjug:

You're welcome, they are a vast improvement on the earlier design. There's only one of your extensive list of products I personally thought was iffy, a concept hugger. Everything else is imo spot on and exudes both quality (having purchased a few) and uncomplicated style.:beerjug:

I know how passionate u metal engineers are, I know the owners of a firm in Yorkshire called metalcraft.

That fooking hugger gave me nightmares, Armadillo !

But 10/10 for the passion and determination.

Thanks for that :thumb2

Weird init? I spend 24hrs at my desk/laser machine - get the bike next to the desk itself so I don`t lose any time walking to it (which only took precious seconds) and only leave the desk for a dump (peeing wasn`t a problem with those incontinence pads :D) and I produce something I wouldn`t have on my bike but did it for the simple reason it was a challenge (and because as usual Nuts was pushing like fekk for a hugger :D) It was a piece of craftsmanship yet totally impractical for our beloved GS`s :blast

And then I design some screen strengthening brackets and a zorst hanger for the XR whilst taking a dump and I can`t actually seem to make enough of the brackets and the hanger looks lovely even to all the people that are very much `anti anything made by Hooton` (thankfully there`s not that many :bounce1)

Thank god for good red wine :clap

XR plus any panniers = shite.
Get a soft bag for the rear rack that's all you need.

That's OK solo if you don't mind the risk of some a rote nicking your dirty washing everytime you park up, but I'd suffer the hideous looks of hard panniers when touring for convenience and peace of mind

The only bike I've ridden which wasn't too bothered by fully loaded panniers and topbox was my R1200RT, but then the panniers were properly integrated and it was a bit dull....

Although I`m not a great lover of panniers (sorry to sound like a broken record) but a I`ve already aid I will be using mine for much the same reason - I`m `happy` (if that's the right word) to put up with them for the convenience but I stress and only in my humble opinion the bike ain`t really meant to have pannier on it even BMW ones.

I wonder if I will sell any panniers to other likeminded people, not that I`m bothered if I do or don`t. Bizarrely those damn Russians seem to be keen to buy everything I make, those crazy socialist fools...............:D

Well, here we go with the line drawn under this so that I can move on - yeah I know, they are shite, look awful, should`nt be on XR`s, what were you thinking, go open some wine :blagblah

But enough already :D

I`ve inclined them forward as Dingers kindly suggested and this is them done - I can`t make them any nicer - I`ve given it my best, all the other pannier manufacturers can`t get it right either but IMHO if you HAVE to have panniers (for the convenience) then there are much worse.

So, what do I do next..................

Hey Mark,I know you is clever, innit, but can you do pannier racks/rails ?

Or are they just not sexy enough for you to put your mind to ?

I really want to get some similar ones as on my 950SE to go on the new Africa Twin when it pitches up :

They fit very close and are very well made and are perfect for using with my Andy Strapz Exped panniers which I'd like to use on the AT as don't want hard luggage on it.

They were made by a guy called B Briggs at Backroadsmoto.com in the US and A but he's stopped trading.

These are the pannier rails I've designed for my panniers from hell - is this the sort of idea? I'm happy to help where I can though designing and making something just for one person (and then charging peanuts) can be somewhat costly for me but I've done it for years with Nuts (funny) so I will help if I can!

Acquired tastes.............

Stressing that I respect & accept everyone's views, :bow:bow even if they not be my own and accepting all the `constructive flak` over my `panniers from the devils bottom` (said Devils bottom panniers shown below as comparison, they blend in nearly as well as the bag.....) I do have to say "By the hymen of Oilvia Newton John, what were they thinking........"

Naturally anyone who has this `thing` is most likely a top geezer :bow:bow:bow and certainly gets my vote of support on anything he does but I would rather actually use my own panniers, stick pins in my eyes & eat my own spleen than strap this carbuncle to an XR.

But then again perhaps it don`t spoil the lines, blends in and does look part of the bike and if you look quickly you can easily miss the bag....... (that came out wrong :D)

Once again stressing In MY Humble Opinion!
