can vario panniers be fixed to a GSA model, i need some panniers and just considering my options especially as i am skint.

yes they can but you need the vario mountings as well.if you have the ally pannier mounts panniers come up for sale here all the time.

I don't know what they cost new from BMW, but there's some on ebay ATM

You have to remove the rack from the GSA to get the Vario pannier mounts to fit.

Also - there are plastic inserts which have to go in the holes exposed when removing the rack securing bolts
