Got the bmw aluminium panniers with the new bike.Already one of the lock barrels has fallen out and on some of the others i struggle to get the key out :( Shop says they would change them( all the locks ) but for the money i payed for them i am a bit pissed off.Anyone else had issues with them ?

If the lock fell out then the sprung plate wasn't located correctly. I had issues with mine when I first got the bike. I found that despite the locks being the codable type some wanker had ground the backs off the barrel body making them useless if you ever wanted to recode them to a different key :blast

I got the dealer give me a complete new pannier & top box lock set and watched while they coded them to my key :thumb

I bought a second hand set last year and had to fit new barrels (keyed them myself). There is only a small spring loaded plate that holds them in place (right at the end of the barrel) and I found a couple of the plastic barrel guides on the latch had burs. As the lock was turned with the key, the bur would push down the plate and the lock would come out with the key. Just dressed them with a craft knife.
I would also not recommended lubing them at all. This could make the plates stick in the down position.

If you have one unlatched, and look up under the mechanism, you will see the locking plate. You may need the key in the barrel to see it move.

When the lock fell out there was pieces everywhere.I wondered about if they changed them i would be able to use my original key.

Yes, they code to your key. When you know the combination, it takes about 5 mins per lock from start to finish.

Do not fret Doc, just get them to change them all and redo them to your key, I dought they will screw up twice....:beerjug:

I got my new 1250 Adventure delivered few weeks back and sales manager who delivered bike said he would sort my locks when he delivered bike as I was keeping my boxes of my 18 plate Rallye said it was a 5 min job to change and code my locks to the new key.

Turns out wasn't so easy he had to take my boxes away with him and have his technical guy sort them out as he couldn't get them to work properly.

He turned up couple of weeks later with my boxes and Akrapovic end can which was on back order and boxes were all sorted.

I think that was a first class service from Carlisle BMW considering they are a 2 hour drive from me. He did say that the locks for the boxes were a very fiddly procedure when coding them which I have read online somewhere.

Not all dealers would go to that length to keep their customers happy so if your thinking of a BMW bike I can recommend Steve Knight at Lloyd BMW Carlisle.

Original poster should keep perspective as I am sure your dealer will sort it out for you.
