Hi,
Whilst negotiating the bumpy London roads on my daily commute on my R1150 GSA, I am feeling every little bump, as if my suspension is set really hard.

I've done the obvious checks: suspension (seems fine and is on a middle setting), tyre pressure (spot on) and have tugged at the rear wheel when its on the centre stand. There is a tiny bit of play, but it could also be my imagination. There is however some oil misting at the bottom of the gaiter on the shaft housing.

I've checked the fluid levels and all seems ok.

The bike generally handles fine, but something is clearly not right when I hit small sharp bumps like cats-eyes, bad road repairs, pot holes, etc. Then I really feel it.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

When mine did this it was the shock that was shot. I had it rebuilt and it was like new.

I think you're right, its looks like its the shock. I spotted some old on the base of the shock so I'm assuming a seal has gone.

ABE at the end of the Blackwall Tunnel in Greenwich rebuild for £100 and I can recommend this. You are very welcome to try the Hagon shock I have sitting here. Longer than the standard GS shock so should fit well. Just let me know where you are based and we could sort something out.

ABE

ABE is exactly where I went. Nick and the boys sorted me out with a fully serviced shock, new seals, gas and oil. £100 for the work with free banter that alone is worth thousands.

Highly recommended in my book.

How long did it take them to do it? Can they do it "while you wait" (shock already out) or izzit a week job?

udders

It normally takes them two or three days to turn it around but they do have a loan shock that you can borrow if you need to keep using the bike. I have a shock that you can borrow if you need.

ABE only does them on one particular day a week, I think it was a Tuesday when I got mine done about a year ago. so if you leave it in on a monday you'll wait a day or two. leave it on a wednesday you'll wait a week. something like that.

Wednesday. And get there before 12am and you can eat all their yum yums.
