How much

My driveshaft has some play in the bearings, just a little, but it's there, also the shaft seems to have moved around in the damper, I am guessing you can get the joints replaced but not the damper,

has anyone fitted one of these from motorworks

are they any good, anyone had any experiences with them?

I like the idea that they are rebuildable!

My original shaft had an out of phase damper and it caused quite a bad vibration.

The joints however were good.

Did you get bad vibs with the shaft?

Yup I fitted one for a bloke they are a right Cnut to get in to the swingarm

But I may have been doing it wrong :aidan

There is a knack to it ! Takes a few tries and a bit of fiddling, but did it several times when I had my driveshaft joints re-done. Not really a problem though.

no, there was a rumbling from the gearbox area, but the bike rode well, though I only managed a few miles before stripping it down, I have since had the gearbox rebuilt by Voyager, and I am putting it back together, swingarm is off the bike!

Henderson engineering in the states can replace the damper and fit replacable greasable uj's

The original "Motorworks" replacement shafts were wider over the UJ, and sometimes needed the inside of the paralever ground a little to get them in.

The UJs were not particularly robust either, and they failed PDQ

The joints have since been revised , with more robust UJs and reduced width so that they are now no harder to fit than OEM .

The US and OZ distributors replaced the early fragile joints with the new pattern at no cost, but I dont know if Motorworks did the same.

They might even be still selling old stock of the original piss week shaft, so caution is required if you are considering purchase from them.

Mine is still going strong (fingers crossed), cause of the failure of the damper may have been a weeping g/b output seal :(

Hendersons told me the only ones he had break up were mine and bumpmunchers:D

I told him thats cos we ride them like they should be ridden:D

Mine was redone FOC and been fine since

In the end I bought the rebuildable one from motorworks,

£170 seems a great deal for a non greasable version, I will get the old one repaired if I can find someone to replace the joints with greasable and replaceable joints for reasonable money!
