I've used this quite a few times over the last few months and I must say I think it's great. It's operated by Nightline couriers.

Here's how it works - you register on their site and nominate a pick-up point convenient to you (they're in various parts of the country, usually in petrol stations, my nearest is in Blessington and there's 24hr access even when the station is closed). Then when you order something online, or buy something on here, you can quote their NI depot as your delivery address, your item is delivered there and then Parcel Motel brings it to your chosen pick-up point. It's left in a secure locker and they text you a PIN code which will open it. You pay €3.50 to Parcel Motel but you avail of UK rates (often free) to get it to NI. You have 48hrs to pick up your delivery after which extra charges apply.

I have found that it works really well, the charge is reasonable IMO and I don't have to make sure I'm at home to take delivery, just pick it up next time I'm in town. It's great for buying anything on this site, no need to wonder about negotiating postal rates to ROI. Downside is I find I'm looking at the Items-for-Sale page a lot more lately

When you register you get two free deliveries to see if it works for you. The largest locker size is 41 X 38 X 64 cm and the max weight is 10kg, but if your item is too big or heavy you can arrange to pick it up at the Finglas Nightline depot without paying anything extra up to 35kgs and €3.50 more per 10kg over 35.

Just thought I'd let others know, and it gets the thumbs up from me :thumb2

Thats bloody brilliant. I was gettiing an Autocom part the other day and diverted it to a friend in NI because there was a £13 premium to get it South! Now I have to wait until one of us is travelling up or down. £3.50 sounds entirely reasonable.

Thanks for the info :thumb2

jeez some threads sure are a great cure for insomnia
Yeah Jester, if yer having trouble you could try a bottle of sleeping pills. :thumb

Got a fork guards for the DRZ, a tent and some other camping gear sent over for €3.50. Would have cost €23 otherwise.

Parcel motel that is one good tool , i have now used it 7 times and you get your text and go and collect when it suits you , i have even got oversize items sent in and collect at the nearest Nightline depot ..... now when will the export one open ?

Brill idea and service. Made a purchase from the UK on Sunday and it arrived today for me to pick it up from my local Parcel Motel collection point.:thumb

Thanks for the tip Fergal:thumb

They also photograph each parcel as it is accepted in to their logistics in Dublin/Belfast so if you log onto your account you can get a piccie of the parcel when they receive it. I've been using it a fair bit over the past 6 months, mostly for stuff that UK senders wont send to non-Uk addresses, including getting oversized items (a bicycle frame in my case) which you can pick up at their Dublin warehouse (or if you ask nicely, they'll even bring it to the nearest Nightline office to you for collection :thumb)
A totally excellent, innovative service.

Parcel Motel Beside Duffy's

As most of you know where Joe Duffy BMW Dealership is in Dublin, just to let you know today I spotted a location for Parcel Motel just outside the Charlestown Shopping Centre main doors which is on the way to the dealership.
